I admire and honor beauty school students that are attending school to become a legit Licensed Hairstylist.
However the constant though of “will I know everything when I graduate”, or “How will I learn how to do natural hair and braids when beauty school doesn’t teach that”?
As a fellow beauty school owner, I understand that our main priority is to prepare student to pass the state board examination, however adequately preparing them for the real world should rank high as a priority as well.
With the beauty industry constantly changing, Natural Hair Education and Services are constantly growing. Preparing our students to accommodate all hair types & textures is a almost mandatory.
There are great benefits to adequately preparing your students with education in Natural Hair services. These services include twist, coils, braiding and weaving.
I teach beauty school student theoretical and hands-on styles and technique in-house.
Training For Salon Professional
I stood behind the chair for many years and one thing I learned was that styles and trends change and as a stylist you need to stay current if you want to remain in business.
In 2004 I saw a change of demand in my clients service request. They wanted to explore with wearing their hair in its natural state, to braid and loc styles.
To properly accommodate them, I did the big chop and grew my hair back chemical free. I explored with different natural styles and did a lot of self educating on hair types, products and hairstyles.
Today many stylist are feeling left out the loop of being a more diversified stylist. Their clients are asking for more natural hair and braiding styles but the busy stylist haven’t had time to educate themselves on the services.
There is also the stylist that want to market their services to the natural hair community but again, do have the education.
I offer training programs for individuals just like you. I teach stylist how to increase their value by developing their knowledge and skill base in natural hair education
